CMS Counseling Department Mission Statement
In accordance with the school mission statement of Conner Middle School and within the framework of the American School Counselor Association’s National Model, the school counseling program is designed to meet the academic, career and social goals of all students at CMS. The counseling program is a collaborative effort with all educational stakeholders (counselors, administrators, teachers, parents, students and support staff) working together to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and habits needed to reach their full potential in all facets of their life.

CMS Counseling Department Belief Statement
The counseling department at Conner Middle School believe:
- All students have significance and worth.
- All students-regardless of ability, age, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation- shall have equal access to all services (academic, career, and social/emotional) provided by the counseling program at the school.
- All students have access to positive mentoring relationships to help the student be successful both academically and socially.
- All students have strengths that should be fostered and applied to help them achieve their goals.
- All students will develop a growth mindset showing that dedication and hard work can pay off (love of learning and resiliency).
- School counselors will participate in effective professional development to promote continued growth within their career and comprehensive school counseling program.
- School counselors will collaborate with and serve as a resource for teachers, parents, students and all other educational stakeholders.
- School Counselors must be an advocate and ally for every student.
- The school counseling program collaborates with all educational stakeholders to increase equity and access to opportunity.
- The school counseling program includes individual, classroom, and community activities that promote various programs and provide information to all educational stakeholders.
- The school counseling program is essential in meeting students’ developmental needs through interventions in academic, career, and personal/social domains.
- The school counseling program utilizes the American School Counselor Association’s ethical standards.
CMS Counseling Department Vision Statement
The vision of Conner Middle School’s Counseling Program is that all students will be successful in achieving their current and future academic, career and social goals. Students will leave Conner Middle School prepared for high school and beyond due to their understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses, their individual learning style, and ability to create short and long term goals all leading to their personal success. Students will be lifelong learners reaching their maximum potential in all areas of their lives. We achieve this through fostering positive mentoring relationships, ensuring rigorous academic standards, and providing project/passion based learning opportunities to ensure their successful transition as a citizen in a future without limits.
